Terms

Last updated November 5, 2026

rentcheck is a free tool made by Velocity Labs. By using it you agree to these terms.

Estimates, not advice

Results come from HUD's published Fair Market Rents and Income Limits. They are estimates to help you understand your situation. They are not legal, financial or housing advice, and they don't decide whether you qualify for help. Only a housing agency can do that.

HUD's data

This product uses the HUD User Data API but is not endorsed or certified by HUD User. HUD's official income limits are its PDF and Excel releases.

No guarantee

We try to keep rentcheck accurate and available, but it's provided as is. HUD's data can change or be unavailable, and we can't promise the tool is free of errors. We aren't responsible for decisions made using it.

Fair use

Please don't overload the tool or use it to copy HUD's data in bulk. Use HUD's own API for that.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date above shows when they last changed.

Privacy

Last updated November 5, 2026

rentcheck has no accounts, no cookies, no ads and no tracking. We don't sell or share anything you enter.

What you enter

Your ZIP code, bedrooms, household size, rent and income are used to work out your results, then discarded. We don't keep them in a database.

What HUD sees

To look up figures, our server sends HUD your ZIP code and the area it belongs to. Your rent, income and household details never leave our server.

Server logs

Like most websites, our server keeps a short log of requests for security and fixing problems. Each entry has your IP address, browser type and the page address, which includes what you entered. The log is overwritten automatically as it fills, usually within days, and we don't use it for anything else.

On your device

If you pick light or dark mode, your browser remembers that choice. It stays on your device.
